Penrith vs Newcastle Blue Star (14/09/2024)

Tuesday night saw Newcastle Blue Star extend their current league unbeaten run to three matches but such a feat came at the cost of two additional points.

With their Scotswood doors opened for the visit of North Shields, it was the visitors who found themselves breaking the deadlock.

For the second league encounter in succession, Marc Nash's men found themselves behind at the break and just like at Birtley before the weekend, Marc Nash's men needed a second half response.

A response that saw Blue Star restore parity in front of their own support and although there were chances to down North Shields late on, the final score was the same at Birtley three days before.

Two successive 1-1 draws that can be framed through different viewpoints. On one hand, it is showing character in order to get something from the game after going behind. On the other, it is the frustration that comes with going behind in the first place.

Be it half glass empty or half glass full, five points from the last nine on offer is not something that should be overlooked and with a trip to Penrith on Saturday, there is a quickfire opportunity to extend this burgeoning unbeaten league run to four in a row.

Something which sets up this clash rather nicely indeed. A big thanks to Penrith for the upcoming hospitality and for those attending from an away perspective, safe travels both there and back.
