Newcastle Blue Star vs Kendal Town (18/03/2025)

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past 48 hours or so, there is a high likelihood that you were celebrating Newcastle’s Carabao Cup final on Sunday and if the hangover was rather tough on Monday, hopefully it has now distilled out of your system.

Not because the Magpies are back in action, but because Newcastle Blue Star take to the field after having the weekend off and after winning their previous league outing, Marc Nash’s men will be keen to continue their positive run of results.

A run of positivity that has seen the KD Stadium outfit go unbeaten in each of their last four – picking up eight points from the last 12 on offer and if last Tuesday’s visit of Boro Rangers was labelled as a six-pointer, it was Blue Star who managed to collect the full half dozen.

Victory that came in a rather scrappy affair at times as both outfits looked for another important win to boost their playoffs and thanks to Jack Daley’s double on either side of the interval, ten-man Blue Star would finally get the better of nine-man Boro Rangers.

Undoubtedly a hard-fought win but it was always going to be against a fellow promotion hopeful and with that success, Blue Star moved into fourth place by the end of Tuesday night – a position they still hold onto before their next encounter.

An encounter which is likely to have serious ramifications in terms of the playoff race and with the weather foiling Kendal Town’s attempts to visit Scotswood, the weather suggests that it will be third time lucky late this evening.

However, tonight’s hosts will hope that their luck stops there and with Kendal Town sitting sixth in the table before kickoff, they know that victory on the road would also thrust them into the playoff picture at the expense at Boro Rangers.

At the same time, if tonight’s hosts can make it back-to-back wins on Tuesday night, the cushion between themselves and those desperately trying to get into the top five would be more substantial – to the point where they can start to look up the table, than opposed to over their shoulder.

Something which sets up this upcoming clash rather nicely. A warm welcome goes out to the visiting Kendal Town team and support and for those who lend their voice to the home team, make sure to bring the noise throughout.
