First Team Squad Update - 07.10.24

First Team Manager Marc Nash provides an update on our current injury 'crisis', and how the lads are recovering. He spoke with Ben Cuthbertson ahead of another double game week for the lads.....

Ben - "Marc, it’s been a challenging start to the campaign with numerous injuries amongst the playing squad already - who is currently sidelined?"

Marc - "In rank of length of time out.....

  • Gabriel Bada – Suspected Torn Meniscus – Scan in 2 weeks – return unknown at this point

  • Shaun Ryder – Broken Leg following the tackle against Easington – currently wearing a moon boot – Back sometime in December most likely

  • Connor Oliver – Knee injection – Return in November

  • Jack Daley – Broken Foot – Now running following 5 weeks of recovery – return unknown but making progress.

  • Anth Myers – Calf Strain – Return in next 2 weeks.

  • Harry Barclay – Concussion – Return Saturday

  • Paul Dudgeon – Early indication is he’s ok after Saturdays forced substitution

  • Rio Joisce – Tight hamstring – just being managed."

Ben - "Thankfully we’ve had a couple of lads return to fitness in recent weeks - Chris Reid & Liam Henderson - how they holding up?"

Marc - "Chris Reid building up match fitness again, but injury has cleared up. Hendo available after pulled calf."

Ben - "It’s been a crazy season with several other lads having a spell on the sideline - Matty Dopson, Joe Richardson, Max Emmerson, Jordan Lamb, Sean Reid - Scotty hasn’t been short of work on the physio table has he?"

Marc - "Scotty has been busy but it’s no surprise with the schedule we’ve had. Sean Reid a result of that but is fine now. Matty missed pre-season with a broken foot. Max injured in 1st preseason game and missed August whilst out on loan getting match fit. Joe and Jordan also had preseason injuries so needed game time elsewhere in August."

Ben - "On paper it looked like we had a fairly large squad at the start of the season, but injuries & availability have soon tested that squad depth hasn’t it?"

Marc - "Yes, that’s true but most of the injuries have been in defence so we have played a number of games without any recognised CB’s."

Ben - "I imagine both you, and the lads, are looking forward to the end of the midweek fixtures to get that extra recovery period back?"

Marc - "We are now in another run of 3 midweeks then we anticipate the Senior Cup in November so it’s still hanging over us. No doubt everyone will be fit when there’s no more midweeks!!!"
